What We Do
We provide therapy services to individual children, youth, adults and their families. We work with each client in a collaborative way to determine the best treatment plan. This includes one to one sessions, caregivers with their child or youth, and family sessions.
We provide therapeutic interventions for the following difficulties:
-
mood and anxiety disorders
-
difficult family dynamics and transitions
-
caregiver stress
-
support around sexual or gender identity
-
self regulation in children, youth and adults
-
life transition for young adults
-
compassion fatigue for helping professionals
We offer a diverse range of evidence based psychotherapy using the following approaches:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an offshoot of CBT that helps individuals become more psychologically flexible by noticing thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and painful memories and learning to step back from them. ACT helps individuals identify goals and values and reinforces who and what is important to them and the direction they would like their life to go.
Attachment Based Therapy is an intervention that reflects on how both past and present relationships impact our day to day functioning. Recognizing that we rely on connection to thrive, attachment based therapy helps families to understand the impact they have on each other and how to interrupt unhelpful patterns that get in the way to connection, comfort and development.
Brief Solution Focused Therapy is a short term, goal directed approach that aims to support people in finding solutions to pressing problems. By focusing on what people can do in the now, they use momentum to resolve everyday issues or stresses.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on the interconnection between thoughts, feelings and behaviour. The goal is to identify, challenge and change negative and anxious thinking. A gradual approach is taken to challenge withdrawn and avoidant patterns through behavioural experiments and exposures.
Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) is a coaching model that guides parents and caregivers to validate their child's emotions. By using tools that support the power of looking underneath behaviour to support emotional needs, EFFT aims to reduce distress, leading to better self regulation within the individual and family.
Narrative Therapy is a type of talk therapy that views individuals as experts in their own lives. By examining personal values, knowledge and strengths, narrative therapy aims to assist people in challenging the difficulties they face. Through reflection, people rediscover the skills they have to effectively confront their difficulties.

What to Expect
When you call or email, we will respond to you within two business days to complete an intake over the phone - that means we will get to know why you are seeking therapy and decide on a best next step together.
We charge $165.00 for a 50-minute session. In most extended benefits plans our services are covered. Talk to your provider for the amount of sessions and percentage covered.
We are able to accept payment by e-transfer and ask that that be sent on the same day as service. This can be sent to the email address that you use to contact your clinician.
Once payment is received, you will be emailed you a receipt with our registration number for submission.
Our clinic offers both in-person sessions and virtual sessions. For virtual sessions you will meet with your therapist via a secure video link; we find many people prefer this way of meeting for the convenience and flexibility that it offers. We ask that you have a private location with a stable internet connection in order to ensure the best results for our virtual meetings.
The majority of our team is also offering in-person sessions from our convenient office location at 201 James St S. in downtown Hamilton.
Cancellation Policy:
We understand plans sometimes need to change. That said, we require two business days (48 hours) notice. Without that, we do charge for the full session price.
